This is the base of a pony. You see the 1/e which means it is first casting.
0856 means this pony is #856 out what ever ponies were run.
This is a nice low number so it would most likely go for a good price on EBay

My whole collection is  1/e's. My numbers run from double digits up to 4 digits

example 0098 or 8797

Here is an example of a signed pony. I believe by having the pony signed by the artist it make's that pony very personal, plus it gives that extra touch and not to mention make it worth more. You can buy  signed 1/e's from EBAY , buy them from the Pony store  when the herd first comes out or do what I do. Track the artist down and ask them to sign the pony for you. Some times they do it  for free  and some times not, $25 is the average, 1 was as high as $100. You not only have to track them down then you have to get permission to send the pony or ponies. You have to pay postage both ways. I have a UPS account so I do my own labels from home. Still have to run them to the UPS store though. I have countless hours on the internet trying to track down artists. Of my collection I have well over half signed. I am determined  to get them all signed but it has proven not to be a easy task. Most of my signatures are located on the top  of the base. My philosophy on that is...why put it on the bottom no body can see it. You paid for it put where you can show it off. On the pictures you can see 3 different ways the artist choose to sign.... bottom, top and top across the front.
